Today's photo tip: resist the urge to say "cheese". We've all been there. We have our cameras ready for that great shot and we ask those in front of our lens to look at us and smile. While these certainly can make for nice pictures, I encourage you to simply shoot. Sneak up on the moment. Don't alter it. If you do, you may surprise yourself. More often than not, you'll end up with beautiful, priceless shots like this one of my Winston. : )

Project 52
Project 52 was inspired by a fellow photographer, and after seeing her work with this, I knew I just had to do this project with you all. So here's how it works: Project 52 is designed to capture you, the mommy, on film with your beautiful children (since we all know how rare such moments are!). The goal is to take one picture each week with some/all of your children. Then, at the end of each month, email your 4 pics to me: jennifer@jkfamilyphoto.com. I'll post them on the blog periodically so we all can see one another's pictures. : ) The project will last one year, and by the end you should have at least 52 amazing moments with your children to treasure forever. As if that wasn't a prize enough, {JK Photography} will also be giving away prizes, including free photo sessions, enlargements and more! To be eligible for the contest, simply become a follower on my blog (that's the only way I will keep track of the participants). Feel free to spread the word to family and friends, and let the fun begin! : )

An Aspiring Photographer

These are my girls. It sounds so funny to use plural. I can tell already I was meant to give Olivia a little sister. She is so helpful with Laela; she loves her so much! So of course Olivia was more than willing to help out with today's photo shoot. The camera Olivia is "using" was my great-grandfather's--cool, huh?
